Flint Fusion Technique & Choreography Course – Part 1

Twerk It Like a Belly Dancer

What happens when a song about twerking meets the precision, power, and personality of fusion belly dance?

In Part 1 of Flint Fusion’s “Twerk It Like a Belly Dancer” Technique & Choreography Course, we explore how belly dancers interpret the energy of “Bellydancer” by Superbeats (Dan Farber)—using layered isolations, sharp accents, and expressive musicality to show the audience how a belly dancer would twerk.

Designed for Beginner–Intermediate dancers, this first part focuses on the core fundamentals that build strong technique, control, and performance confidence while beginning to shape the choreography.

Throughout this course we’ll work on:
Isolations to develop control and clarity in the hips, core, and upper body
Hip hits and accents for crisp, rhythmic movement
Pumped-up kicks for dynamic energy and playful attitude
Shoulder shimmies to add texture and layering
Traveling steps to move confidently through space
Musicality—learning how to interpret the rhythms and accents of the music
Stage presence so your performance feels confident, intentional, and fun
Tips and tricks for what happens before, after, and in between the big moments on stage

For choreography, dancers will begin learning Part 1 of the full routine through movement combinations and guided improvisations, allowing you to explore both structured choreography and your own personal expression within the piece.

Each week of the course includes:
🎥 A full-length class video to follow along with
💪 Targeted drills and conditioning exercises to strengthen technique
🔁 Practice breakdowns for combos and choreography
🎲 Fun games and occasional shenanigans to keep things playful and build community

This course is about embracing the humor, confidence, and musicality of the song while showcasing the artistry and versatility of fusion belly dance.

Come ready to isolate, layer, perform, and show the audience exactly how a belly dancer does it.
